Iran Feed Industry Condition in 1395 (March 2016-March 2017)

Dr. Ghadirly, chairman of Iran Feed Industry Association, in an interview with economic reporter of Irna, elaborated the latest situation of Iran feed Industry and said: "during last year, about 7,100,000 tons of livestock corn, 1,220,000 tons of soybean meal, 25,000 tons cottonseed meal, 26,000 tons rapeseed meal and 18,000 tons of sunflower meal have been imported. Further, importing of soybean meal, cottonseed and canola in the first eleven months of this year compared to the same period of last year respectively decreased 12, 45 and 38 percent; however, importing of sunflower meal increased 360 percent."
Movafegh Ghadirly stated that Iran needs 18 million tons livestock inputs, grains and variety of meals which of this amount, about 10 million tons is used in the livestock sector and eight million tons in poultry sector.
According to the prediction of this member of the Board of Representatives of ICC for the next year, country needs about 82 percent of feed corn, 16% feed wheat, 36% feed barley as well as 90% different kind of meals which must be imported from abroad.
Further he outlined that potential capacity of feed Industry in Iran is approximately 21 million tons, while our actual capacity is about 8 million during last year and explained that from this real amount, the share of livestock was 4, 250,000 tons, poultry feed was 3,55,000 tons and aquatic feed was 250,000 tons.
In the context of production of protein products he stated that about 806,000 tons red meat, 9,140,000 tons milk, 2,122,000 tons poultry meat and 931,000 tons eggs have been produced in Iran during last year.
At the end Dr. Ghadirly noted that more than 60% of livestock and poultry feed concentrate have been produced in farms that this issue forms the technical, economic and health difficulties for Feed Industry of Iran.
